Merchant Navy is a job where a person(officer) has to travel sea distances for checking and maintaining ships, cargos, etc.

If you have passed your 10th class and now want to be a Merchant Navy straight away then you have to complete your G.P ratings.

But if you want to continue your studies for 12 or completed your 12th studies and now want to be Merchant Navy then you have to clear IMU CET. It is conducted by Indian Maritime University for admission of students into their Maritime courses.

The types of Merchant Navy:

  • Deck officer – 10+2 with 60℅ or 10th for G.P course.
  • Electro-technical officer – 10+2 (PCM) with 60℅+ maths and english with 50℅(from 10th or 12th)or diploma with 60℅ or B.E/B.TECH with 50℅.
  • Engineer – 10+2 (PCM) with 60℅+ maths and english with 50℅(from 10th or 12th)or diploma with 60℅ or B.E/B.TECH with 50℅ In Mechanical, Marine or related branch.
  • Catering and Hospitality Crew – 10+2 with 40℅.

Eligibility:

  • Person must be unmarried and a Indian residents (male or female) within the age limit of 28.
  • Good Vision is needed but glasses with lens power up to 2.5 might be permitted. 
  • Individual need to take a boat instructional class before doing a commercial movement. 
  • Individual must be medically fit in hearing and eyesight, they also need to submit medical certificate.

  • Their age should be between 25- 28 years.
  • Students must have completed10+2 (PCM) with 60℅+ maths and english with 50℅(from 10th or 12th).
  • Students must have completed diploma in electronics engineering/ marine engineering/mechanical engineering/shipbuilding engineering with 50℅.
